The comments were those of Geraldine Ferraro, the former New York congresswoman who commented about the fact that Barack Obama's race has helped his candidacy. Is this racism? Is it possible that black voters are more likely to vote for Obama? Is it possible that this was a benefit?

What do they have in common? For one thing, all have penetrated into the mainstream. More importantly, they demonstrate the trend - More television viewers are watching their favorite programs through streaming video on their computers --

A study in October by Nielsen Media Research found that one in four Internet
users had streamed full-length television episodes online in the last three
months, including 39 percent of people ages 18 to 34 and, more surprisingly, 23
percent of those 35 to 54.

Look for more changes:

An Apple patent application unearthed by AppleInsider shows a proposed system for using an iPod-like device as a remote control for an Apple TV-like device with DVR capabilities. (They never use the actual product names in the applications, but it's not too hard to tell.) It also suggests that Apple is thinking about making a version of Apple TV that could watch and record live television programming.

Should the US Rely on China to Manufacture its Drugs?

Ahhhhhh ... no.

Every day thousands of Americans rely on the blood thinner Heparin to survive.

Now that drug is under suspicion for 21 deaths and hundreds of allergic reactions. Baxter International, a major manufacturer of the drug, has stopped selling almost all forms of Heparin.

CBS News medical correspondent Dr. Emily Senay reports that officials say they have not yet identified the cause, but are looking to China where nearly half of Heparin's raw ingredients come from.

Obama's Knock-Out

We've watched Obama rocket to the top of the Democratic world in just a few short years. What is it about the junior senator from Illinois that voters find so appealling that Hillary Clinton has been left in the dust? Perhaps it comes down to money:

Mr. Obama’s financial advantage is helping him beyond the airwaves. His campaign flew 200 paid organizers from across the country to 10 campaign offices in Texas right after the Feb. 5 primaries, aides said, when some of Mrs. Clinton’s staff members were volunteering to work without pay. Another 150 were sent to build get-out-the-vote networks in Ohio, working for Paul Tewes, who was the Obama campaign’s director in Iowa. Mr. Obama’s eight-point victory in that state’s caucuses gave his campaign a huge boost.

To gain his financial advantage Obama developed a visionary presence, one not backed by substance but built on charisma.

Patents: the battlefield of stem cell research

The coming battle in stem cell research is beyond the ethical dispute that commonly hits the news headlines. Instead, the war will be won via patents:

In the first of several decisions expected in a patent dispute involving human
embryonic stem cells, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation said today it has been notified that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has upheld the claims of one of the foundation's key stem cell patents.

This is just one of many disputes that will cripple research beyond what legislation ever could.

Killing After Birth?

What's Divisive?

On the issue of abortion, the following are divisive...

1. Killing living children who haven't travelled the length of a vagina.

2. Negatively impacting the concept of family by redefining marriage.

3. Raping hard working people to subsidize sloth.

4. Favouring the rights of criminals over those they victimize.

5. Paying vast sums of money to a group of people based on their skin colour simply because they were "here first".

6. And this is the current Liberal divisive pet project: Pandering to females.

Stephane Dion will "hand-pick women to run in chosen ridings". Sorry qualified guys - maybe next time you won't have such a "divisive" leader.
